According to the legendary former AC Milan manager Arrigo Sacchi, Atalanta where Super eagles forward Ademola Lookman plays could be serious contenders this season for the Serie A title.
Sacchi has endorsed Atalanta after its impressive past season where the side bagged their first European trophy after beating Bayer Leverkusen.

Atalanta’s Strong Start and Key Signings
After the start of Gian Piero Gasperini’s leadership, Atalanta continued to strengthen their team and brought Ben Godfrey, Ibrahim Sulemana, Charles De Ketelaere, and Mateo Retegui.
These additions are focused on ensuring that the club remains competitive in the league and retain the standards that are expected of it.

Atalanta began their Serie A campaign on high note by thrashing Lecce 4-0 to further amplify expectations of their championship run.
Sacchi’s Confidence in Gasperini’s Men
Speaking to La Gazzetta dello Sport, Sacchi noted that Atalanta’s tactical and organizational abilities position them to overcome financial imbalances and challenge for the Serie A title.
He then acknowledged Gasperini as one of the best coaches in the League and noted that they should have a plan and goal, which he was confident Atalanta had.
“Can Atalanta aspire to the Scudetto? Why not? They are a complete team, and they have one of the greatest coaches who is also a strategist,” Sacchi said.
He agreed with the fact that Atalanta is far from Italy’s giants in terms of financial strength, but retained the opinion that only a consistent and well-structured project might become a guarantee of success.
Potential Challenges Ahead

However, Atalanta may have issues in retaining her star players, with both Ademola Lookman and Teun Koopmeiners rumored to be on the radar of some of Europe ’s biggest clubs including PSG and Juventus respectively.
In a recent report from Sportsbuddy, Ex-Italy and Napoli striker Michele Padovano has slammed Super Eagles star Ademola Lookman for the way he claims to have dealt with Paris Saint-Germain’s interest in him.
Their absence may potentially jeopardize the teams’ chances hence the need for Atalanta to ensure their key players remain at the club.
