Chelsea have the 22-year-old Victor Osimhen as their top target, but there is interest in the Everton and England striker Dominic Calvert Lewin.
The Blues have been chasing Osimhen, the current African Footballer of the Year, in the entire transfer window; however, Napoli has set its demand at €130 million.
Exploring Affordable Alternatives
With the negotiations over Osimhen’s transfer frozen, according to The Sun, Chelsea are now eyeing cheaper players such as Calvert-Lewin or Federico Chiesa of Juventus.
These players are regarded as options in the event that the club cannot sign Osimhen, who is said to be demanding exorbitant wages.
Osimhen’s wage demands
Victor Osimhen, who penned an extension with Napoli after the conclusion of the previous season, had his wages rise from €4.
The salary range extends from €5 million to €10 million plus bonuses. This increased ranking puts him among the best paid players in Serie A, and his wages would likely make him among the best paid players in the Premier League in case he moves to Chelsea.
In a recent report from Sportsbuddy, Enzo Maresca has been told by popular Chelsea fan Frank Khalid to bring the Nigerian striker to the club.
Uncertain Future for Osimhen
The Nigerian-born player has been an ordinary player for Napoli and has not played in any friendly games, let alone competitive games, in the new season. It is beginning to look like he would be transferred soon.
Paris Saint-Germain has also expressed interest in signing Osimhen, but like Chelsea, they are unwilling to meet Napoli’s release clause.
As things stand, there are only a few days remaining in the current transfer window, making it unlikely that Chelsea will be able to secure a deal for Osimhen.
