Former Super Eagles striker Odion Ighalo has sent a strong message to Nigerians following Victor Osimhen’s failed transfers.
Osimhen was keen on leaving Naples in the just-concluded transfer windows but found himself still stuck with the club after failed transfer moves to Chelsea and Al Ahli on deadline day.
Having burnt all bridges with the club, the 25-year-old attacker has been axed from Napoli’s senior team.
This situation sparked mixed feelings from Nigerians on the internet, with some blaming Osimhen and his camp.
Ighalo on Victor Osimhen treatment
Responding to the online trolls, Ighalo took to his social media to express his disappointment at such behaviour coming from Nigerians.
“But seeing comments about this young man from his own country people makes me really sad, without even knowing what happened,” he wrote, on his acount on X (formerly Twitter).
“I spoke to him and I can feel the pain in his voice, the way he’s been treated, this young man play with heart and pains for his country.
“Hmmm it’s well, he will definitely be back stronger, we learn everyday in life. Happy New Month to y’all.”
