Arsenal fans have expressed excitement over Manchester City midfielder Rodri’s apparent season-ending injury during the chaotic clash with Arsenal at the Etihad.

The incident-filled game got off to a feisty start as Arsenal’s Kai Havertz collided with the 28-year-old midfielder, just eight seconds into the match, leaving him receiving medical attention.

Rodri soon returned into the game after treatment but was eventually forced off after another collision with Thomas Partey, resulting in a serious match-ending injury.

Arsenal, having trailed after Erling Haaland’s opener, turned things around courtesy of goals from Ricardo Calafiori, and Gabriel Magalhães.

However, the visitors found themselves down to ten men after Leandro Trossard was controversially sent off after delaying restart—a decision that did not go down well with Arsenal fans, who expressed disappointment at referee Michael Oliver’s ‘harsh’ judgement.

While Arsenal were dealt a last-minute blow following John Stones’ last-minute equaliser, their fans have taken solace in earning one point at the dreadful Etihad and also reveled in City’s misfortunes, with Rodri facing the possibility of being sidelined for the entire season due to a suspected ACL injury.

One fan wrote on X, ”I can’t wait for this Rodri ACL announcement.”

Another commented, ”Rodri acl means more than 3 points.”

A third said, exaggerating on the situation, “Due to severity of ACL injury, Rodri has to amputate his leg.”

Amidst the Gunners fans’ petty wishes, there has been no official report regarding the severity of the Spaniard’s injury.

Pep Guardiola will be hoping the situation is not as serious as it appears, as he aims to have one of his most important players back on the pitch as soon as possible.
