Barcelona defender Pau Cubarsi iCubarsi after requiring 10 stitches to close a cut on his face, which he suffered during the club’s UEFA Champions League away win against Red Star Belgrade, confirms manager Hansi Flick says.
The Spaniard, 17, was forced off in the 67th minute on Wednesday after being caught by Uros Spajic’s studs as he headed a corner clear.
Cubarsi, who has made himself a mainstay in the Barcelona defence following his debut as a 16-year-old, needed medical attention on the pitch before his substitution after being left with a bloodied face and an open wound.

After the game, German boss Hansi Flick said about Curbasi, who was eventually replaced by Sergi Dominguez: “He needed stitches, but he’s fine.”
The club later posted a photo of a smiling Cubarsi with the caption: “I’m OK.” on their official X (formerly known as Twitter) handle.
Barcelona sealed convincing 5-2 win and move into the top eight, where they’ll have an automatic ticket for the round of 16.
