Ademola Lookman’s long-anticipated move to Inter Milan has suffered a major setback after negotiations with Atalanta collapsed. The 27-year-old Super Eagles forward had already agreed on personal terms with the Nerazzurri, reportedly signing off on a five-year deal worth €4.5 million annually.

Despite their interest, Inter failed to match Atalanta’s asking price of €50 million. Their best offer, a €45 million package, was rejected two weeks ago, and the Serie A runners-up have now decided to walk away from the deal.
Atalanta Refuse to Budge
Lookman pushed aggressively for the transfer, submitting a formal request, issuing a public statement, and even skipping training sessions in a bid to force a move.
However, Atalanta stood firm, insisting that no agreement would be reached below their €50 million valuation.
Inter chairman Beppe Marotta had earlier warned that the club would not drag negotiations until the end of the transfer window.
Reports suggest Inter are staying true to their stance, with Fabrizio Romano confirming that Lookman’s representatives will be informed within 24 hours that the club is ending their pursuit.
Inter Shift Focus to Alternatives
With Lookman now off their radar, Inter have turned attention to other transfer targets. According to reports, Roma midfielder Manu Koné is now top of their shortlist, with the same funds initially allocated for Lookman’s signing set to be redirected toward alternative reinforcements.

This development leaves Lookman facing an uncertain future. While his stock remains high after an impressive campaign with Atalanta, the Nigerian forward must now decide whether to reintegrate into Gian Piero Gasperini’s plans or wait for another big move.
