Antony has categorically refuted the accusations of domestic abuse leveled against him by his ex-girlfriend Gabriela Cavallin which has caused his omission from the Brazil team and controversy in the second year at Manchester United.
During United’s pre-season training camp in Los Angeles, the DailyMail captured Antony’s challenges of the previous year and the way in which his personal life influenced his football.
“A lot happened over the year in my personal life. Like it or not, everything that happened to me impacted the way I pitched. It was a very tough year for me and my entire family, but I want to stress that I have learned from that year. It was a year of growth and personal development”.
Overcoming Adversity
Nevertheless, Antony underlined his progression and ability to cope with the adversities.
It is my opinion that I got a lot from the adversity. I learn from everything I go through and learn that everything is possible when you persist in achieving what you want. I have let the past be behind me.
Actually my childhood was quite terrible. For instance, when there were no boots for football and when at times there was no food to eat.
The Favela’s Influence
These difficulties have made him to be a grateful and determined fellow. He still has links to his family background.
