It was a poor outing for Atalanta and Nigeria international player, Ademola Lookman who was also alley throughout the match as Real Madrid hammered Atalanta 2-0 in the UEFA supper cup match played at PGE Narodowy Stadium Warsaw.
First Half: A Balanced Start
Atalanta entered the competition as the Europa League holders, and they were to take on another football giant in the UEFA Champions League titleholders, Real Madrid.
This match was the first competitive game in the French forward Kylian Mbappé’s Los Blancos career, making Real Madrid the favorites.
Atalanta however, managed to rely on Lookman who was instrumental in the earlier Europa league victory, partnered Charles De Ketelaere upfront.

Nonetheless, during the initial stages of the match, Real Madrid severely dominated the match while Atalanta also got chances to produce opportunities.
But the goalkeepers ensured that neither team scored a goal during the first half of the half.
Second Half: Real Madrid Takes Control

The second half was also characterized by increased activity in the attacking frontline by Real Madrid.
Federico Valverde put Real Madrid ahead in the 59th minute with a goal. Soon after that, Jude Bellingham, who had failed with two prior attempts, assisted Kylian Mbappé to score a goal for Real Madrid in the 68th minute.
Lookman was active throughout the match but his colleagues lacked creativity especially when they were in the box.
Lookman’s Pre-Match Remarks

Before the start of the match, Lookman addressed the media where he dismissed the notion that there would be a head-to-head with Mbappé as reported previously by Sportsbuddy.
“It’s not about that,” Lookman said to UEFA via their official webpage “Soccer is full of good players who play on the field, stars, I’m just preparing myself for the match and just want to play and perhaps prove myself in the best possible way. ”
He also expressed confidence in Atalanta’s ability to perform against Real Madrid “We are not a team that fears anyone We will go into this match as a team and work hard for each other; defend for each other, fight for each other and show what we are made of when it comes to it.
Lookman would be disappointed at failing to add another laurel to his cabinet after their Europa league triumph over Leverkusen.
