Forgotten Super eagles forward Olanrewaju Kayode has moved to Turkish Division 2 side Şanlıurfaspor FC, marking a new chapter in his turbulent career.
The 31-year-old player had undergone a rough period both in his professional and personal life, and the club offered him an opportunity to restore his career by signing him on a one-year contract.
A Difficult Year for Kayode
It has also proven to be a turbulent year so far for the super eagles striker who was caught up in a very public scandal.
This year in February, there were allegations that Kayode was involved in domestic trouble with his spouse, Ezinne.
It got worse when it was rumoured that she used the money to fund the lifestyle of her pastor, Tobi Adegboyega, whom she was claimed to be having an affair with, as reported by Sportsbuddy.
Further, allegations of how she mobilised friends to embezzle Kayode’s properties were also made.

The scandal further escalated as they [the couple] questioned the paternity of their children and engaged in an ugly war of words over a leaked DNA test.
The last progress made in the matter was that Kayode had sought a dissolution of the marriage through the judicial system.
Despite all these personal issues, Kayode has been able to direct his attention towards his work.
A New Beginning at Şanlıurfaspor

In September 2023, he moved to Genclerbirligi, and his stint there was only for a few months until March this year.
But he has now earned a new deal with Şanlıurfaspor FC according to Ojora Babatunde, which he desperately needs to perform as well as expected.
It has been a feast and famine story for Kayode since his arrival in the EPL with Manchester City from Austria Vienna in 2015.
Despite the loan spells to Girona and Shakhtar Donetsk afterwards, his career path shifted for the better after joining the latter club permanently in 2018.
Again, he was loaned out several times and went to Sivasspor and Ümraniyespor before signing permanently for Genclerbirligi last season.
