Inter Miami star Lionel Messi is about to add another award to his collection, following his nomination at the 2024 Laureus Sports Awards.
The Laureus Sports Awards is the most prestigious awards presented to athletes in honor of a memorable season, and the athletes who have made the short list for this year’s awards have excelled in their respective disciplines.
Lionel Messi, in contention again
Messi, having won the award for the Laureus World Sportsman of the Year category in 2023, is in contention yet again, with Manchester City forward Erlin Haaland, also nominated in this category.
The Inter Miami star, who has so many awards to his name, has another opportunity to add another award to his collection.
Haaland’s nomination
Football player Haaland, who is also a strong candidate for Sportsman of the Year, led Manchester City to victory in the Premier League, FA Cup, and UEFA Champions League in his first season with 52 goals in 53 games.
