The Laureus Sports Awards is the most prestigious awards presented to athletes in honor of a memorable season, and the athletes who have made the short list for this year’s awards have excelled in their respective disciplines.

Messi, having won the award for the Laureus World Sportsman of the Year category in 2023, is in contention yet again, with Manchester City forward Erlin Haaland, also nominated in this category.
