Gift Orban Amedspor transfer — RAMS Park, where the Nigerian striker scored his 10th goal to trigger the €3m permanent clause

The Gift Orban Amedspor story has reached its turning point. The Nigerian striker’s 10th goal of the season — a 65th-minute header in Saturday’s 4-3 defeat at Galatasaray — has triggered the mandatory purchase clause in his loan from Hoffenheim, and the Turkish club must now pay a reported €3 million to make the move permanent.

Orban is on loan at Amedspor from Hoffenheim, and the deal was built around a single number: reach 10 league goals and the loan becomes permanent. He reached it at RAMS Park on Saturday night, heading home substitute Furkan Soyalp’s cross for Amedspor’s second goal of a seven-goal thriller.

Gift Orban Amedspor: the clause that changes everything

The terms were never a secret. Amedspor president Nahit Eren revealed them in September, confirming the club paid €500,000 to take Orban on loan and that a mandatory purchase clause worth €3 million — payable in instalments — would be activated once he reached 10 league goals.

“We loaned Gift Orban for €500,000, not €1m. If he scores 10 goals, the mandatory purchase option will be activated,” Eren said at the time.

That moment has now arrived. Daily Post Nigeria reported on Sunday that Orban is on the verge of completing a permanent transfer, with Amedspor now able to activate the clause and secure his services beyond the loan spell. No official confirmation has come from either club yet, but the trigger itself is no longer in doubt.

Some reports have put the fee differently — German outlet Kicker previously linked the obligation to a €4 million figure tied to avoiding relegation — but the club president’s own figure is €3 million, and it is the one that has now been met.

How Orban reached 10 goals in 11 games

The numbers behind the clause tell their own story. Orban now has 10 goals and five assists in just 11 Super Lig appearances since joining Amedspor in July, making him the leading scorer in the Turkish top flight.

His 10th goal also took him past compatriot Victor Osimhen in the Golden Boot race. Osimhen, who is recovering from knee surgery after going under the knife on Saturday, sits on nine goals, with Trabzonspor’s Mohamed Salah on eight. Fellow Nigerian Yira Sor also got on the scoresheet for Amedspor after coming off the bench.

It is a remarkable turnaround for a striker who arrived in Turkey needing a fresh start. Orban joined Hoffenheim from Lyon in January 2025, having earlier starred at Gent, but struggled for regular minutes in Germany. The loan to newly promoted Amedspor was supposed to be a stepping stone. Instead, he has become the story of the Super Lig season.

What happens next for Orban

Amedspor’s task now is to complete the formalities, and the clause leaves little room for delay: the purchase is mandatory, not optional, once the 10-goal mark is hit. Reports in Turkey have also linked Orban with interest from Galatasaray and Fenerbahce, but the clause gives Amedspor the first claim on a striker who has delivered exactly what they paid for.

For Orban, the permanent move would end months of uncertainty and reward the most productive spell of his career. The one-time Super Eagles invitee is still waiting for a first senior cap, but on current form, Eric Chelle will find him increasingly hard to ignore.
