“Moses Simon’s Devastating Blow: Out for the Season after Injury in Mali vs Nigeria Clash”

Nantes, the French Ligue 1 club, has confirmed the devastating news: Super Eagles forward Moses Simon will miss the remainder of the season due to an injury sustained during Nigeria’s 2-0 defeat against Mali on Tuesday

Simon, a senior player, joined the national team camp for friendly matches against Ghana and Mali. He played for 19 minutes in the first game, which Nigeria won 2-1 against Ghana.

In the second game against Mali, Simon started but had to leave the field in the 33rd minute due to an injury from a collision with the goalkeeper. Despite efforts from the coaching staff, he couldn’t continue, and Cyriel Dessers replaced him. Unfortunately, Nigeria lost the game 2-0.

After the came Coach Finidi George affirmed Moses Simon has been taken to the hospital.

SIMON OUT OF THE SEASON

According to Soccernet.ng, Simon’s injury sidelines him for a minimum of three months, ruling him out for the rest of Nantes’ season.

Additionally, he’ll miss Nigeria’s 2026 World Cup qualifiers against South Africa, posing a setback for the national team. Nantes, currently 16th in Ligue 1, face relegation concerns.

With 22 league appearances already this season, his absence poses a challenge for coach Antoine Kombouare, who must now find a replacement for the remaining eight games.
