his isn’t the first instance of Onana using vaseline on his gloves; he was spotted doing so in the game against West Ham in December as well. GloveGlu, as explained on X, states that goalkeepers sometimes use vaseline in wet conditions to enhance the grip of the glove palms.

According to Keeper Balm, applying vaseline immediately enhances the gripping ability of gloves. However, this practice can deteriorate the latex of the gloves, resulting in a shorter lifespan compared to usual.
