Leicester City have reportedly made contact with Graham Potter regarding their vacant managerial post. Former Brighton and Chelsea manager has been out of work since being asked to leave Blues midway through 2022-23 campaign.
He has been linked with a return several times. Graham Potter had been strongly connected with taking over at Ajax during end of 2023-24 season, then reports emerged that he had rejected Dutch giants.
Graham Potter Seen as a ‘Serious Candidate’ for Leicester
Now Graham Potter is being linked with a return to English football. The Premier League is calling as the Foxes are looking for a new manager after the departure of Enzo Maresca who ironically left Leicester for Chelsea.
Potter is thought to be considered as a “serious candidate” according to Fabrizio Romano. The report claims that the Foxes have made contact with Potter. They are viewing the 49-year-old as serious candidate.
Potter has also been linked with England job. Gareth Southgate’s future beyond European Championship is yet up in the air. Potter is available but his inactivity since being sacked by Chelsea in April 2023 may count against him.
Leicester meanwhile, are looking to solidify their return to Premier League after a surprise relegation in 2022-23. Maresca’s side tore through Championship to finish on 97 points.
They achieved 31 wins from 46 games. However the Italian was quickly poached by Chelsea after Mauricio Pochettino left Stamford Bridge club by mutual consent.
Key to that success was, of course club legend Jamie Vardy. He netted 20 times and is sure to continue to play a crucial role at King Power. They return to top-flight at the first time of asking. Vardy has since signed a one-year contract extension, taking his stay at Foxes into a 13th campaign.
