A recent transfer report claims that Chelsea are preparing a big swap deal offer for Aston Villa striker Ollie Watkins.
The Blues are in search of a top-tier center forward and are ready to invest heavily in order to acquire the 28-year-old striker.
Over the summer, Chelsea and Villa have held lengthy talks about numerous players’ transfers. Jhon Duran was one of the players the Blues were interested in, and Villa wanted to sign Conor Gallagher.
Chelsea eyes Watkins
Football Insider reports that the five-time Premier League champions are willing to make a financial offer in exchange for Watkins’ services this summer, even if Gallagher is still unwilling to leave Stamford Bridge.
The recently concluded season saw Chelsea struggle in attack, with the club’s summer signing, Nicolas Jackson, receiving lots of criticisms for his wastefulness in front of goal.
Watkins, on the other hand is a proven-goal scorer, having recorded 19 goals and 13 assists, finishing as the fourth-highest goal scorer in the last Premier League campaign.
The England international was a member of the Three Lions squad that advanced to the final. As a matter of fact, Watkins scored the winning goal against the Netherlands in the semi finals after coming on as a substitute for Harry Kane.
