The speculation about the lack of experience of the new head coach of Chelsea has been countered by Carlo Ancelotti who has faith in Enzo Maresca.
Maresca’s appointment was made after the shock sacking of Mauricio Pochettino which even Jamie Carragher from Liverpool did not see coming.
Concerns Over Maresca’s Experience
Some Chelsea fans have raised eyebrows over Maresca’s inexperience as they anticipate the 2024-25 English Premier League season.
His past experiences as a manager were with teams such as the Leicester City and turbulent period at Parma, playing in Italian Serie B At the same time, experience is not that important, knowledge and understanding of football is.
Carlo Ancelotti’s Vote of Confidence
“Experience is not everything,” Ancelotti further said on John Obi Mikel’s Obi One Podcast.
“It is the part of his job but of course, the most important part is the knowledge, and the fact that he has experience with Pep Guardiola and with Leicester City, I think he has the knowledge to handle it and to do well at Chelsea. ”
Maresca’s Experience and Possible Career Opportunities
Maresca worked under Guardiola at Manchester City, and according to Ancelotti, that gives him a great advantage.
He has experience to manage and succeed at Chelsea,” Ancelotti added. Chelsea’s decision to appoint Maresca is a milestone in his career, and he will come up against his former boss Guardiola when Chelsea take on Manchester City at the Stamford Bridge on Sunday, August 18.
Enzo Maresca recently downplayed his comparisons with Pep Guardiola in a previous report from Sportsbuddy.
Carlo Ancelotti, now the manager of Real Madrid and one of the best managers in the world football, managed to start his coaching career in Italian football before moving on to Chelsea where he became the first Italian manager to win the English Premier League.
Its endorsement of Maresca could go along way to allaying the fears of Chelsea fans as the new season unfolds.
