Enzo Maresca was appointed the Chelsea head coach and he was quick to clarify that he is not Pep Guardiola’s clone.
Although Maresca worked with Guardiola at Manchester City, he wants to carve out his own style and vision at Chelsea.

Emulating Guardiola: A Misunderstood Mission
Maresca unearthed that club chiefs at Leicester and now at Chelsea planned to mimic Guardiola’s strategies.
However, he had to justify why this vision is not directly realizable.
“When I joined Leicester and met the chairman and sporting director, they said: ‘We want to play the same way that City play’, Maresca said in the Daily Mail.”
“I told them: ‘We don’t have the same players, and I am not the same manager’. And the same thing when I met Chelsea. I said: ‘The idea is that idea, but probably we need time because the players also need to understand what way we want to play and it’s different’.
Moving Beyond Physical Resemblance

The former Foxes manager is quick to note physical similarities between him and Guardiola in that both have a bald head and beard, but that is as far as the comparison goes.
“Because he is bald and he has a beard, they want me to play the same. No I don’t. I fell in love with that idea, but that does not mean it is exactly the same. ”
Chelsea is currently on their pre-season tour in the USA, Maresca is under pressure to get the best out of a large squad following his arrival in replacing Mauricio Pochettino.

Maresca have announced Chelsea penalty taker after an incident similar to what happened last season under Mauricio Pochettino occurred when the blues glided past Club America in a pre-season clash as reported by Sportsbuddy.
The Blues head coach said that Guardiola is happy to see his former assistant go to the Premier League with Chelsea.
The two will clash in the English Premier League at the start of the new season when Chelsea welcome City to the Stamford Bridge on Sunday, 18th August.
