Ex-Chelsea forward Tony Cascarino has called on the club to offload Enzo Fernandez in the wake of a social media video incident.
In the video filmed after the Argentina’s Copa America victory over Colombia, Fernandez uses racist language while players sing a chant that inquires the French black players and players of mixed ethnic origin about the color of their skin.
Fernandez, who signed for Chelsea in February 2023 for £107m, added that he was sorry and used the words, “I am very sorry. ”
Team Reactions and Possible Outcomes
Chelsea team-mate Wesley Fofana described the chanting as ‘uninhibited racism. ’ Fernandez may face sanctions from Chelsea and possibly FIFA.
As previously reported by Sportsbuddy, Chelsea have issued a statement concerning Enzo Fernandez stating “We acknowledge and appreciate our player’s public apology and will use this as an opportunity to educate. The club has instigated an internal disciplinary procedure.”
Cascarino thinks that the only way to satisfy some of the teammates is through Fernandez leaving the team.
Future Prospects for Enzo Fernandez
Cascarino opined that Fernandez might have to cut his ties with Chelsea, which could seek a transfer to Saudi Arabia where clubs are known to spend big on transfers and wages.
According to other Chelsea transfer updates from Sporsbuddy, Reports emerging from Brazil suggest that Premier league side Chelsea is in talks to sign Fulham midfielder Andreas Pereira.
However, Argentina midfielder Rodrigo De Paul stands for him to boast that the incident is only a joke, and some Chelsea players have even not followed Fernandez on social media.
