Over €4.4 billion made annually makes Spain’s La Liga a giant of football making it another one of the richest sports leagues in the world. It’s fierce rivalries, such as that between Real Madrid and Barcelona boosts the league’s global popularity. Lionel Messi, Cristiano Ronaldo, and Karim Benzema are the men who have traditionally attracted huge global audiences.
As its broadcasting deals and large contracts with its sponsors very lucrative, it is very financially supported. Real Madrid and Barcelona still manage to remain on top, both financially and competitively, as the highlight of the La Liga segment of the upper echelons of global sports leagues.
